Mogarraz, The Amazing Town Of Portraits On The Facades Of Houses - Castile and León - Spain

In few places in the world one can feel as observed as in Mogarraz , a small town in Salamanca located in the depths of the known as Sierra de Francia. Blame it on the 650 huge portraits that dress the facades of their houses . You know why?Mogarraz is a town town, with an eagerness to preserve its legacy, with its mountain houses, with timber, stone and adobe frameworks and centuries-old fountains, with that authenticity that has forced it to preserve its isolated location among thick forests.In 1967 the National Identity Document (DNI) was established in Spain. What today is a mere tedious but unimportant procedure, at that time and especially in places disconnected from the most relevant centers involved a long journey just for something as simple as taking a passport photograph.
